A View from the Kiosk

Here’s my combined View from the Kiosk for Saturday the 22nd and the 15th of June

Both days were crowded and nice. Both were 200 map shifts and of course, if I gave to all the group members, that total could have climbed to well over 1000.

Here are some of the more interesting questions and interactions, with no editorial rankings….. for a change.

  1. “Where is the Dakota Palace?”

  2. “Where can I rent a chariot?”

  3. “Where can we rent a wheel chair?” (this was a good question)

  4. “Do you happen to have hand sanitizer I can borrow?”

  5. “I’m looking for my wife, she said she would meet me at the lake”

  6. “Can I help you find something?” -“No, we are just going for a little ramble”

  7. “Can you come out and move that turtle to the water?”

  8. “We found this iPhone, can you take it?” ( we don’t have lost and found)

  9. “Fountain!! Fountain!!” -“Excuse me, are you asking me for directions to the fountain?”

  10. “A cartina, please.”- I learned that cartina is map in Italian.

And one last one that is non-verbal. As I am helping a woman with directions someplace, this hand entered from the left and started to make grabbing finger movements. I said to the woman, “Excuse me one moment”. Then I looked to the left and asked this rude gentleman if he wanted a FREE map.

One observation:

It amazes me when the horse drawn carriage drives by with 4 young ladies who are intently staring at their phones. That’s a lot of money for some insta.
