Here's my view from the Kiosk for Saturday the 12th, 2017..
The earlier shift was open yesterday, so I was able to man the kiosk from 1-4 instead of 4-7. I loved that. There was a huge concert going on. They Might Be Giants. A lot of kids, a lot of families. Helped about 350 people and gave out over 100 maps. It was very crowded around the kiosk. At one point, I felt like I was in the back of a truck at a refugee camp handing out chocolate to poor children. Then, I started to feel like I was at Sea World throwing fish ( maps) to the seals. There were a lot of people with pincer hands as well. I guess my maps just bring all the people to the kiosk.
best question: “How do I get back to the main entrance?”
second best: “Where’s the Empire State Building?”
third best: “Why isn’t there an F train on 5th Avenue?”
best interaction? A man carrying a big cake box -

“Where’s the restaurant?”
“Which restaurant?”
“The one with the wedding”
“Which one with which wedding?”
most common odd question” “How do we get to Sake Shakey” I learned this meant Shake Shake. I heard a lot of versions.
most frequent question? “How do I get to the Met”
funniest? “How do I get to Central Park?” This time it was for real, by a very confused tourist.
most friendly? As I was walking to my kiosk. One of the horse and carriage drivers called me over. “Hey buddy, you work in the kiosk? “Yeah?” “Take my card and have the tourists call me. I am really generous. I will really take care of you” I told him that I wasn’t allowed to take commissions.
best visit? No Visitors. Boo
idiot question? “Where’s the big hill from all the movies”
“No idea”
